Busy, Busy Little Man

It's been a while since I've posted anything; Benjamin is keeping us very busy!! He has begun to walk while pushing a toy...he's learned how to open drawers and cabinet doors...he's learning how to climb...more recently he's learned that when you pull something out of a planter, dirt comes out and that tastes pretty yummy, and when you throw a glass baby food jar on the tile, it makes a wonderful smash and mess. (and thankfully he didn't get hurt!) Bryan pointed out that Ben would rather eat dirt than eat real food...we cannot get him to eat "people" food for anything. He eats about 3 baby food jars' worth at each meal; he loves the pureed stuff!! But if there's any texture or lumps in it, forget it.

Needless to say, all of this learning has kept Mommy very busy trying to keep up with him! One would also think that all of this busy-ness would make Ben tired, but no -- it seems to only increase his energy reserves! It is a good thing that he is so stinkin' cute and loveable.

Last Sunday was our 6th wedding anniversary - it was the first time that we'd never gone anywhere to celebrate! But Benjamin finally started sleeping through the night again since our vacation to Billings, so we didn't want to mess that up (sleep is a precious commodity in our house!). A good friend of ours baby-sat for us, and we had a wonderful date night - a real one, dinner-and-a-movie - here is a picture of us before we left for our date. Maybe Ben knew we were leaving him? He was so fussy when we were taking the pictures, and seemingly for no good reason, and we couldn't help but laugh at the poor thing -- our annual anniversary pictures have changed forever!! Certainly they are more interesting.

Life in general is more interesting, to say the least! Bryan and I were just talking about it -- Ben is so full of life and energy, it's as if he just can't get enough! He wants to see more, touch more (taste more! except real food) and DO more! He will walk before he's one-year-old, I know it. Sigh. My baby grew too fast!!
