Stylin' Saturday Link Up -- Green Family

We are such a stylin' family; we can't help it.  Our style just happens without effort.

For example, last Saturday morning we all tromped out on a doughnut hunt and found ourselves at the new Dunkin' Donuts on the corner...

and then we realized, as we consumed our ever-so-healthy breakfast, that the boys and I were all wearing...

green T-shirts.

They could not be bothered to pose - well, who would, with yummy frosted donuts in front of them?

Our shirts were not the same shade of green -- oh, no, we could never be coordinated as that -- but all in green, nonetheless.

(I love the word nonetheless, don't you?  I find different ways to use it whenever possible.)

Bryan was the odd man out -- he did not get the subtle green-shirt-memo-vibe that went out from me and the boys.  He didn't mind sitting there in his navy blue T-shirt, though.

He doesn't need to match everyone else in order to feel as if he's a part of things.  He knows he's a part of things.

He's secure that way.

Also, he was the only one with a healthy breakfast -- a multi-grain bagel and a coffee with Splenda.

He likes to be different.

This was my breakfast:

Cinnamon coffee with cream and sugar...Boston "scream" doughnut and a maple bar.  I just decided that I didn't care that day.  And it was good.  (Why are these last 10 pounds not coming off?  Hmmm...)

Ben, as usual, did not want to pose for a picture, and especially with his mama.

This is as "green" as our family gets.

Stylin' Saturday Link Up -- Ben's Shoe Fashion

Linking up with Wendy again!

It's Ben's turn for a Stylin' feature!!

He loves his Daddy...

so much so, that he wants to wear Daddy's shoes...

even though he's already wearing his own shoes.

My sweet boy -- he turns four years old on Tuesday!

An overly-zealous smile and a "time-out" shirt are also pluses to the wardrobe.

He and Daddy have the same basic taste in sandals...black is good.

Stylin' Saturday Link Up - Spider-Man Shoes

So it's been a tough week in our house -- we are okay, but things just got stressful and busy with schedules, discipline issues -- you name it.  Typical things that happen when you have a nearly-four-year-old-going-on-eighteen and a two-year-old.  That is why I haven't gotten any posts up since last Saturday.

I love this link-up with Wendy -- it's so easy.  Thank you Wendy for making life easier for me today.  ;)

Guess who is our stylin' family member?  Of course it's Sam again.

I will say that I did have intentions to show-case one of my "momfits" (as Wendy calls them) -- but somehow always managed to forget to get a photo before I changed clothes.

One of these days I will show you my sweet morning bed-head.  It's pretty amazing.  Ever since I changed to a bob hair-cut, I have some awesome curly-ratty-sticking-straight-out morning 'dos.  Again, it's a matter of remembering to get the photo before I brush my hair or jump into the shower.

Okay, back to my sweet Sam.

He still loves Spider-Man.  We have lost his beloved blue Spider-Man sandals.  I am sure they are around here somewhere.  Anyway, he was due for some new sneakers.  Guess what he chose?

They have red lights on the heels and sides that light up when he walks.

So he's taken to stomping everywhere he goes.

He also sleeps in them.  Without socks.  No joke.

By the way, he still highly recommends the pacifier.  Especially when one is cutting their two-year molars.  And the blue camo blankie is a must.

See the Spider-Man shoebox in the background?  We still have it.  He loves to carry it around the house and store his treasures in it.  Cars + Trucks + Shoes = Treasures

Climbing into the car.  He must do it all by himself -- no help, please.  (Strong protests ensue if any help is offered.)  Note the awesome one-piece outfit -- it has a space monkey thingy on the front.  One of his favorites.  Also very stylin'.
He is currently playing outside, wearing them without socks.  Gasp!  My feet sweat in sympathy.  But he prefers "naked" feet!  (He prefers everything naked. Silly baby).

Linkin' up with Wendy!!!  Check out her awesome "momfit" today!!

I love that I was thinking of doing a momfit photo today, and then you did it!  You're awesome!!

Stylin' Saturday Link Up

Linkin' up with Wendy over at Tales from the Motherhood....

Stylin’ Saturday

No cute kiddo pics this week -- although I did take plenty of those.  Just nothing in the way of stylin'.  I guess I could post yet another photo of Sam wearing only a diaper and Spiderman sandals, with a pacifier in his mouth and a monster truck in his hand.  (He still recommends these accessories, by the way.  He's just not into change in his life right now.  He needs the stability that only a paci and monster truck can provide.)

THIS week I'm featuring my studly hubby.  He was kind of embarassed when I asked him if I could take the photos.  He isn't a "limelight" kind of guy.  But he did it!  10 points for Bryan.  Way to support wifey's bloggy obsession hobby.

Here he is...do you notice anything different than most normal guys?  No, not his rugged jawline...no, not his hard-as-rocks arms (though they are nice to squeeze -- but only I can do that)...

His feet!  His...shoes?  sandals?  What in the world are these?  I'm still not quite sure.  But he wears these all the time, even to church.  He says they're really comfortable.

Guess what?  He made them.  Himself.  As in, he had some black rubber (or whatever it is), traced his foot, cut out the pieces for each foot, and tied the cording.

He found some video on YouTube.  Yes, there is a video on YouTube on how to tie these sandals.  There are several, actually.  (I'm convinced that you can learn how to do most anything on YouTube.)

But he's not a hippy.  He runs in these sandals.  Have you ever heard of "Barefoot Running"??  Well, it exists.  Bryan runs often, but he has some knee and back injuries that cause him pain while running.  And he actually doesn't like to run!  (Oh I admire his discipline.  I don't like to exercise at all, so I make it a point to never do that...but that's fodder for another post.)  So one day at work, one of his co-workers was telling him how his son had gotten into barefoot running.  Bryan was intrigued.  So he came home and researched this concept.  He decided to try it.

Not only has he ceased to have the knee and back pain that he had before, but it's made running more interesting to him.  Double benefits!

There are many different kinds of barefoot running shoes on the market, but they're rather expensive, especially for this thrifty man of mine.  Being the handy guy that he is, he went into his garage-cave and came back with the supplies.  Being the mechanical/designer engineer that he is, he fashioned the sandals himself (watching afore-mentioned YouTube video).  People tease him about his "Jesus sandals", but he teases back that maybe since Jesus wore them, that makes Bryan more holy?  ha ha.  He's totally kidding.

But he's totally stylin'! In a hippy-running-Jesus sort of way. :)

Stylin' Saturday Link Up

Sam's fashion tips for this week:
Sam really did choose this "outfit" - he insisted on the red socks, sandals, and pacifier, and absolutely refused to wear clothes.  He had to be coerced into the diaper.

  1. He still recommends a pacifier at all times.
  2. The monster truck toy remains an accessory "must-have." (See last week's post for this tip.)
  3. Shirts and pants are completely optional.
  4. Red socks look smashing with blue Spider-Man sandals.
  5. Calamine lotion on your leg is a charming feature to one's outfit.  Mosquito bites not recommended.
Linking up with Wendy again this week!  I love this link up!

Stylin' Saturday Link Up

Here are my munchkin boys on Thursday, playing in the rain.

They have two fashion tips for you this week:

First off -- it's stylin' to be dressed exactly alike, especially when you're brothers.

Secondly, and this is Sam's favorite:

Don't be caught dead without his two favorite accessories:
pacifier and monster truck toy.

Hollywood should be all over this.

Stylin' Saturday Link Up

I'm a big fan of Wendy Hagen's blog, Tales from the Motherhood -- and I love her Stylin' Saturday posts!  Stylin' photos of her kiddos in outfits of their own choosing, or whatever kind of get-up they can create.  Wendy actually read part of my blog (I'm such a nerd; I'm still in awe that she even took the time!) and asked me to share this picture of Sam for this week's Stylin' Saturday!  So here it is, along with another that I found -- my boys are not very stylin' -- or I guess you could say, they have a "style" that is truly all their own.

Sam sleeping...I wrote about it in this post.  Check out his stylin' band-aids all over his legs!
This is from May of this year. The boys had balloons that they felt the need to stick in their shirts!  Almost no toy is worth playing with if it cannot be stuck down or up their shirts.
Check out Wendy's post today, if you haven't already!
