Silly Parents

Every night as we go to bed, Bryan and I say the same thing: "We are such idiots! Why are we up so late?!" We decided last night that since we're both "idiots", we married well. :) Let's hope that Ben doesn't inherit too much of our idiot genes.

It seems that we just can't go to bed early! Every evening after Bryan gets home, that's when the family fun begins. He and Ben play hard together, sometimes Ben gets a bath (here's a pic of the aftermath of last night's bath! do you think Ben needs a hair cut?), then Ben goes to bed. And that's when the Mommy-Daddy fun begins. Of course our version of fun, for us two goal-oriented people, is working on projects!! I was re-organizing our CDs into a folder, throwing out all the cases -- very important, I know, but we need more space and it's making both Bryan and me crazy. Bryan did some of his homework for his class from work. THEN we did the real fun stuff -- Bryan started playing his new "Call of Duty" game on the computer and I started making cards for a class I'm teaching this Thursday night. We thought "Oh, it's only 9:00, we've got plenty of time." And it was so nice to be together, sitting in the same room yet doing separate things. We always enjoy time like that. Maybe that sounds weird, but it suits us really well!

Next thing we knew, it was 11:00!! Silly, silly parents. Benjamin wakes up promptly at 6:00 every morning - if not a little earlier - plus today was our "early" morning where I get up and go to Curves by 6:00 for my workout.

Well, I woke up at 6:34 and Benjamin was chattering away in his crib, talking to his sea turtle aquarium toy. (best toy we've ever bought for him!) He is bright-eyed and extremely active this morning, and Mommy is "dragging tail" (one of Bryan's phrases) and drinking lots of coffee! Thank goodness for coffee.

And I know Ben will not probably nap this morning. He is dropping those naps like hot potatoes. Sleep? Who wants to sleep when there are so many things to explore, investigate, and taste?? Not little Ben!!

At least he's sleeping through the night. Now if only Mommy and Daddy would do that too! Silly parents.

Hey fellow blogger! (Steph here from WOW - trying to keep my "anonymity" as to last name, butcha know me). I usually blog frequently, but am in a dry spell right now.

I hear you on the late night thing. I stayed up until 11:00 last night looking at bread baking supplies on the internet. Dumb.

I LOVE the picture of Ben! You need to save that one and show all of his future girlfriends. . .blackmail!!! :-)

I too know exactly how it feels to fall asleep late and have an early riser for a child. Thank goodness for coffee!!!!! It's a mothers best friend! :-)

Let's get together for coffee soon! :-)

Oh my goodness! I'm totally starting rumors!!! You are the 2nd person who has asked me! I can totally see where one would get that from the comment I posted about wanting a bro or sis for Isaac!!! That's soooo bad! I just updated, otherwise I'm sure I will be bombarded with people thinking I'm pregnant! Jason's aunt sent me an e-mail asking if I knew the sex so she can start making a baby blanket!!!!!

No, NOT pregnant! Just getting baby fever. I'm still breast feeding so I need to stop that first. Just talking about it, nothing serious though! We would like to start maybe in the Spring, we shall see!!! :-)

Thanks for the good laugh, though! My fault!!!

soooo funny! i subscribed to your blog through My Yahoo, so it gives me a blurb on my "My Yahoo" page. well, it just gave a portion of the picture, so all i saw was Ben's forehead and all that hair! ha, ha. it was hysterical!

wow, do i know what you mean. well, you know my lack of sleep from all those years at the paper. now, i am SUPPOSED to get off work at 11:45pm, but lately, they have been working us late, so i sometimes don't get off until 1:45am (may get even later before too long). even when i do get off on time, i have so much trouble going right to bed. i want to get on the computer "for just a minute" since it's quiet and i have no distractions. there have been times i have stayed up until 3 or 4am! thank goodness the new school starts at 9am instead of 8am, like last year (though that makes the afternoons more hectic since they get out later), but still getting up around 8am is hard after staying up that late. and Billy is not taking naps like he used to either. he still needs one because he will crash around 5pm. that doesn't help me, though, and Chris hates that because he needs to get them in bed early so he can get some sleep before work. but Billy is very resistant to afternoon naps now.
