A Poopy Morning

So this Momma has a confession...I, the Momma of the Nickel household (in Tucson anyway), fell asleep this morning on the couch while Benjamin was watching Super Why on TV. He LOVES Super Why, so I thought "maybe he'll stay put in front of the TV for the whole show" (this is how tired I was, not thinking straight) - I had the baby gate up, the cat food and water up so he couldn't eat it/splash in it, all doors closed - we were good! Now I did NOT plan on going to sleep, just dozing lightly.

I fell asleep to the Super Why music (very catchy, I actually like it) and I do remember the last song, "Hip Hip Hoo-ray-y! The Super Readers saved the day! We changed the story, we solved the problem..." and I thought to myself, "better get up now..."

Then the next thing I know, the music is "I love Clifford, the big red dog..." and I shot up off the couch. A half an hour had passed! I could hear Ben in the kitchen, opening the cabinet door under the sink. Okay, so the worst thing that could happen is, he'd get into the grease pot (where we put the old used olive oil after we're done cooking) and make a mess. But I got over there before he'd gotten that far - really he just likes to look at everything under there. He rarely touches anything. And he was quite happy over there, no harm done! Close call.

Then I saw it. Right there on the ceramic tile. A brown smear.

And another brown smear...and another...then on the rug in front of the cabinet...then on my precious baby's ankle...thigh...DIAPER!!! He was only wearing a T-shirt and diaper, no shorts.

He had pooped - BIG TIME. And it had leaked - A LOT.

I had to laugh. Ben was oblivious to the poop, happily playing and chattering away in his baby talk. I picked him up, holding him out in front of me, not touching, and put him in the bath tub.

He got so excited. He loves the bath tub! I stripped him, pulled off the diaper, poop was everywhere. I turned on the water -- Ben got even MORE excited -- he loves water!! He had a blast playing in the water while I cleaned everything up.

So all in all, it wasn't too bad of a morning. Mommy got a nap, Ben had a good poop AND an extra bath, the floors got mopped -- everyone was happy.
